Urethane primers are used to promote the bonding and adhesion of urethanes to surfaces. Most urethanes should be applied over a prepared primed surface for optimal results. We have developed special primers for specific application. Our primers range in applications for concrete, metal, unpainted metal, as a tie coat to fiberglass parts, flooring, roof decking, pipeline, tank, and wood. Our primer 450 has been used in the application of our Speedliner™ Truck Bed liners for over 20 years. These primers can be applied with brush, rollers, dipped or sprayed with a low pressure sprayer. Any place adhesion to pre painted metal is desired.

Polyurethanes elastomers in general, require an adhesion promoting primer to form strong bonds to various substrates.

Primers are chosen based on the type of surface that will be bonded to the polyurethane. The primers are suppled in two forms:

  1. as a two component system where Component A & B are combined then the mixture is applied to the bonding surface
  2. as a single component system where the material is applied with no mixing.

Better bonds can be made by roughing up the application surface with light sanding and cleaning with M.E.K.

Thinner coats of primer that are allow to dry form stronger bonds than heavy applications

Primer 200

Primer 200 is a single component, moisture cured urethane elastomer primer specifically formulated to enhance the adhesion of urethane elastomer coatings to concrete substrates.

This is an excellent primer for most substrates.

Primary uses include:

  • Most Surfaces
  • Used with all applications of the Speedliner Bedliner System

Primer 450

Primer 450 is a two component primer used to increase the adhesion of urethane elastomers to other elastomeric compounds or as a tie coat to some metal surfaces.

Primer 450 Low VOC

Primer 450 Low VOC is a two component primer that is California Compliant Rule 1151 and is used to increase the adhesion of urethane elastomers to other elastomeric compounds or as a tie coat to some metal surfaces.

Similar to the Primer 450 but with reduced V.O.C’s (volatile organic content) the comply with European Air Quality Rule; 540 gram/ VOC per mixed liter

Primer 460 SPX

Primer 460 SPX is a two-component primer used to increase the adhesion of urethane elastomers to other elastomeric compounds or as a tie coat to fiberglass gel coats, fiberglass parts and some metal surfaces.

This product is similar to the Primer 450 with the added benefit of epoxy to form strong bonds to difficult surfaces

Primary uses include:

  • Most Surfaces
  • Used with all applications of the Speedliner Bedliner System
  • Difficult bonding surfaces

Primer 700

Primer 700 is a high performance, two-component urethane primer system designed for use on concrete. By mixing in a 1:1 ratio by volume, bubble-free films can be produced up to 50 mil (1.3 mm) thick.

This product is similar to the Primer 450 but does not contain any VOC’s

Primary uses include:

  • Concrete and wood surfaces

Primer 800-252

Primer 800-252 is a single component primer used to increase the adhesion of polyurethane elastomers to metallic, ceramic and cured polyurethane surfaces.

This product is similar to the Primer 450 but a single component brush on product and required no mixing

Primary uses include:

  • Concrete and wood surfaces
  • Direct to prepared steel surfaces

Primer EMC-3

Primer EMC-3 is a single component primer used to increase the adhesion of urethane elastomers to SBR and neoprene rubber.

This is etching primer that is used to allow bonding of polymers to vulcanized rubber i.e. Neoprene and E.D.P.M

StyroPrime

StyroPrime is water based acrylic latex rubber coating formulated for fast drying and high adhesion to cut or carved foam surfaces. It is formulated to seal the surface of carved foam prior to the application of StyroSpray 1000 hard coating.
